Hulu Releases Chilling First Look at Upcoming Handmaid’s Tale Series

The hotly-anticipated Handmaid’s Tale is coming out on Hulu on April 26th. To tide us over and make this few month wait go by just a little bit quicker, Hulu released the very first trailer for the series today.

The series, based on Margaret Atwood’s award-winning novel of the same name, takes place in a dystopian future where the government forces young women into a form of sexual servitude where they are assigned to wealthy, prominent families in order to help couples procreate. It’s a decidedly chilling setting, one that certainly carries a little bit of resonance with women living in today’s current political climate. With the attacks on women’s rights and equality growing more and more frequent and intense by the day, many people have found much in common with the women in the aforementioned novel.

Bringing to life the characters of the novel are Elisabeth Moss (Mad MenWest Wing), Samira Wiley (Orange is the New BlackYou’re the Worst), and Alexis Bledel (Gilmore GirlsUs & Them). Also on board are Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) and Joseph Fiennes (Camelot).

It’s a pretty loaded cast, and the story is downright gripping. And of course, judging by the trailer, this is shaping up to be one hell of a show.
